Vistry secures planning approval to deliver final 202 homes at Bishop’s Stortford North
Vistry, the leading provider of mixed-tenure homes, has received planning permission from East Herts Council to deliver the final 202 high-quality homes at its Bishop’s Stortford North development. Approval for this final phase marks a significant milestone in bringing the wider delivery of 2,200 homes, 627 of which will be delivered by Vistry.
The approved scheme will provide a mix of both private and affordable tenures to help meet local housing needs. Of the 202 homes being delivered in this last phase, 59 will be delivered as affordable rent properties and 11 as shared equity homes.
Construction on this final phase is expected to begin in summer 2026. The first completions are forecast for summer 2027, with the entire scheme due to complete in autumn 2029.
This latest approval underscores Vistry’s commitment to creating long-term, sustainable communities with the mix of housing that local residents need. The development will continue to prioritise thoughtful street layouts, quality architecture, and green spaces that enhance the wellbeing of residents.
Verity Macey, Managing Director, Vistry Central Home Counties said: “Securing approval for our final parcel at Bishop’s Stortford North represents an important step forward for the wider community. We’re proud to be delivering much-needed mixed-tenure homes that will support local housing demand while completing a development that has been many years in the making. We look forward to getting underway this summer and progressing towards first handovers in 2027.”
